the dried-up streets

The streets were dried-up, it felt very cold even though it was sunny, everyone in the town locked themselves up with fear and the police were going rounds in the streets to make sure everything was good around, the parents rushed to the schools and parks to pick their kids to safety, you can think from whom are these people trying to run away and hide. he’s a man, he’s a god, he’s a legend, that nobody knew and doesn't know why he is killing these town people. 8 murders in a week with the same pattern of killing. the only clue that the cops had about the serial killer was that he had a snake tattoo on his right wrist. it was officially declared that the schools and colleges were going to be on a holiday till the chaos has been taken under control and which was really uncertain at that point. I went to pick up my 6-year-old son from his school. I drove my car to his school, on the way, I saw a guy in his mid-30s standing on the street alone, whose car was broke down and was asking for help, I pulled my car over to him . and asked what was his problem, to which the man replied that he was going to pick up his 12-year-old son from the same school as my son’s and while coming on his way his car broke down suddenly and was asking for help but the streets were so vacant that he could not find anyone driving up for over a half and an hour . as a fellow father I helped him and drove him to the school and picked his son from the school and set to drove them to their home. on the way to his home, we had a pretty normal parent talk and also about ourselves.  he said that he was working as the head of the marketing department of the town's famous candy company sweetums. while talking to him, I noticed that there was a small snake tattoo on his right wrist. it was not that clear, because he was wearing a long sleeve shirt. I just didn’t want to assume that the guy was a killer just from his tattoo but anyway my heart was pounding on seeing the snake tattoo on his wrist but still, I tried to play it cool and was trying to be calm, even though I felt the tension of being in the car with a killer, at the end we reached their house and I dropped him and his kid . the guy invited us to his house to have some coffee and he also tried to offer some candy that he got from his workplace. but I politely refused and left the place. I really didn’t want to complain to the police just based on the tattoo which may be quite common and also thinking in the place of being a fellow father.  a few days later, the police tracked the guy who has committed the murders through the CCTV footage that was found on the last murder spot. yes, it was him, the guy to whom, I gave the lift. he used poisoned candies to murder his victim and took their dead body and did unspeakable things to them. he was charged with a death sentence and his son was taken under the custody of his wife whom she divorced when she found out that her husband was a serial killer. to this date, the thought of being encountered by that man, who genuinely looked like a normal person and being so close to a death or an alive situation, gave me, the scares and the chills.
